Spotlights of Montclair

Van Vleck House & Gardens

Located just outside the heart of Montclair, the Van Vleck House & Gardens is a former private estate that has since transformed into a sanctuary for ericaceous plants. Today, visitors can tour the gardens, attend classes, or even attend their annual plant sale.

Montclair Town Center

Boutiques, jewelers, spas, and national retailers line Bloomfield Avenue, the main thoroughfare that runs through Downtown Montclair. The area is also known for its diverse selection of restaurants—Cuban Pete's, Raymond's, and Ani Ramen are just a few favorites.

The Wellmont Theatre

This historic venue, which was renovated in 2008 and 2013, attracts musicians, comedians, and other performers to its stage. In total, The Wellmont can seat 2,500 guests, and it's also known for hosting the annual Montclair Film Festival.

Montclair is home to various county and municipal parks, including the 408-acre Eagle Rock Reservation, where you'll discover various trails and 180º views of Manhattan. To top it all off, the township also has 18 public tennis courts, four skating rinks, and three public swimming pools.

Despite its relatively small size, Montclair has a surprising number of art venues for residents to enjoy. Montclair is known for its impressive selection of highly rated public and private schools. The area's 7,000+ students are served by the Montclair Public School District's 11 institutions, many of which have magnet-style curriculums. Montclair Kimberley Academy, one of New Jersey's largest private day schools, is also located in Montclair. After graduation, many students go on to attend Montclair State University, a public research college for under and postgraduates.
