South Orange is a village known for its bustling arts scene, stunning outdoor destinations, and one-of-a-kind sense of community. Here are a few more perks that come with living in this suburban paradise.

Ample Parks & Rec

South Orange features a variety of places where residents to get out and enjoy nature. During hot summer days, you'll find kids and adults splashing around at the community pool in Cameron Park, one of the town's most popular green spaces. The in-progress River Greenway Project is slated to add miles of paved trails throughout the community. And for a more rugged outdoor adventure, try going for a hike at the nearby South Mountain Reservation.

Arts & Culture

Aside from the SOPC, South Orange showcases a number of top-rated galleries, performing art facilities, and other cultural destinations worth visiting. The Baird Center, located in Meadowland Park, offers art programs, the Pierro Gallery of South Orange, The Theater on 3, and other venues. The town even has its own symphony that presents three free concerts per year at Sterling Hall.

Amazing Schools

Even if you don't have children, you'll still benefit from South Orange's stellar public school system, which helps keep property values high. Students living in the area attend the joint South Orange-Maplewood School District, which operates one preschool, seven elementary schools, two middle schools, and one high school. In total, SOMSD educates over 7,000 children and boasts a student-to-teacher ratio of just 12:8:1.
